Formed in 1919 in France by WWI American doughboys, the American Legion has held its own place in American history and culture. Often known for their volunteerism and stalwart participation in patriotic parades, the Legion also advocates on behalf of the military community. These photos exemplify the fraternity of the organization almost 100 years after its founding.
