By now we’ve all heard the news about Target offering a military discount through Veteran’s Day. (Some of us are more excited than others because Joanna Gaines’ new line just hit the stores.) We wanted to bring you some unique places that offer a Veterans Day or military discount in honor of National Military Family Month.

1. Online

Caribu is an interactive reading platform that enables someone to read their favorite book to their loved one through a video call. The free app is available for download on iTunes and Android. This November, they are offering free 6-month subscriptions to all currently serving US military families! Check them out here.

2. Connecticut

If you happen to be near Mystic, CT, you can visit the Mystic Aquarium and Mystic Seaport for free this weekend. The seaport is offering free admission to veterans and active duty service members Friday through Sunday and the Aquarium is offering free entry from November 11 through the 19. Dependents can receive a discount with ID to the aquarium.

3. Chicago

There’s quite a few local restaurants in Chicago offering some free food to honor veterans. On Saturday, November 11 grab a free ice cream scoop from Chelita’s Homemade Ice Cream and from November 11 through the 18, veterans and active duty can eat free from one of four locations of America’s Dog & Burger.

4. Kansas

For anyone near Fort Leavenworth, head over to Manhattan and enjoy the Sunset Zoo free of charge for service members and families. Active duty can also receive a free entrée, drink, and dessert at McAllister’s Deli in Manhattan.

5. San Antonio

Veterans and active duty in the San Antonio area will receive a free tour of the Alamo on Saturday or Sunday, November 11 and 12.

6. New York City

Want to see a free IMAX viewing of The Dunkirk? If you’re in NYC you can do so on Saturday, November 11 at 5 PM. You must RSVP here. Popcorn and soda included.

7. Virginia

There are several places in Virginia that are waiving admission for the weekend for veterans and some even include families. From Monticello to Mount Vernon to Colonial Williamsburg.

8. Florida

The Pensacola Ice Flyers are honoring military veterans by offering 35 percent off center ice tickets for service members, veterans and their families in their November 11 game against the Fayetteville Marksmen. You could catch the game after watching the free Blue Angels Homecoming Show.

We know that veterans and their families are spread around the world, and there are so many great local and national businesses offering discounts to our veterans and service members this weekend. We also want to thank all of those organizations and businesses who offer discounts year round. It truly means a lot to see the support our country has for our veterans.
