Unless you’re one of the very, very, very few and extremely lucky military families who hardly ever moves, you’ve probably experienced at least one PCS every two to three years. If you’re a military spouse long enough, you will probably get the chance to PCS back to prior duty stations. But until that happens, you’ll have to get to know your new home. Here’s what that’s like:

1. When you finally finish unpacking and leave your house for the first time in a long time

2. When you check out the commissary for the first time and nothing is quite the same

3. When you need a new hairdresser or barber and all you want is a decent haircut

4. When you can finally drive around with out your GPS

5. When you need to hire a babysitter for the first time at your new station

6. When you try a local restaurant

7. And when you try that local delicacy that wasn’t exactly what you thought it was

8. When you tell your spouse you’re tired of everything new and just miss your old home
