Now that Thanksgiving is over and the holiday season is well underway, football lovers are focusing their attention on the final celebrations of the season: Bowl games. The Military Bowl, a game played between an Atlantic Coast Conference and the American Athletic Conference, kicks off December 28 at 1:30 PM ET in Annapolis, MD. This year is the tenth year of the bowl’s existence, and just as they have in the past, they’re donating tickets to military families, beginning December 6.

The Military Bowl gives back to the military community in two ways. The game helps to generate funding for “the USO and other organizations supporting members of the Armed Forces and their families,” according to the Military Bowl’s website. In fact, the bowl boasts more than $700,000 donated to those organizations through the football game. In addition, since its inception, more than 25,000 tickets have been given to D.C. Metro military families so they can enjoy the festivities without a financial burden.

Currently, the opportunity is only open to service members (active duty members, activated Reservists, and active National Guardsmen) and their dependents living in the Washington, D.C. Metro area. Those who are eligible may request up to eight free tickets. Tickets may be distributed to military retirees on a limited, case-by-case basis, depending on availability of the tickets. (For more information on the nitty, gritty details, visit the Military Bowl’s official website.)

To throw your hat into the ring, you’ll need to take a few proactive steps. The first is to register through the USO’s TicketLine program. The link will go live December 6 at 12 PM ET; vouchers will be available for pickup between December 18 and December 20 at one of four locations around the D.C. area: Fort George G. Meade USO Center, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Honor Guard USO Lounge, USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir, and the USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda.

Not able to make it to Annapolis after Christmas? If you’re in Jacksonville, FL, you might be able to snag free tickets to the TaxSlayer Bowl. The organization also gives free tickets to military families.
